I have been working 12 to 14 hour days for weeks. My home is a mess, I’m tired all the time, and all I want to do in my time off is well… ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
I think my “get up and go” has “got up and gone.”
Does that ever happen to you? How do you deal with it?
My bedroom bears striking resemblence to – well I was going to use some horribly inappropriate place, but I’ll spare you-anyway, it looks like complete crap and like Gap threw up all over the place. And what do I do about it? Nothing. Eventually the craziness will wear down.
Lisa, welcome to my world! Do what I did, embrace doing nothing and hire a housekeeper.
Hire a maid. Take a nap.
Welcome to my world. I had to call in a maid for an estimate.
You need to give yourself a break. Treat yourself to a massage. Or a nice meal. Or a lover.
All of the time LB all of the time. I do Yoga, it helps me with my get up and go. And I spend time on weekends or whenever I can to just veg and do nothing. Try it you may luv it!!!
spinning class.
One word: FLEE
I suck it up, do the cleaning, then reward myself with Chinese food or ice cream and a nap. That way when I wake up or when I’m done binging, the house is still clean even when the nap is over and the food is gone. It’s a win-win.
You can save a lot of time if you do what I do… I use hand grenades for housecleaning. It’s a lot more exciting too!
BWAHAHAHA!!!! Now you see why I love Se7en.
Seriously, take some time to go play. Go see a bad (as in not critically acclaimed and hyped unto Hell) movie, get some Chinese (food or whatever you prefer), treat yourself to a little bit of something you normally wince about eating because of either the cost or the calories…I’m sure others can think of things here too, but the key detail is PLAYTIME. You need a little.
OMG I hear you! I spent the entire ride home knowing I was hungry and tired, and wanting to stop by Applebees to pick something up, but I ended up just going home, so now I don’t want to leave the house and I’m still hungry. I can’t effing move.
When I do that, I just unplug from life in general. I usually take care of my “stuff”, and go hang with my horse. Ride- be in the presence of creatures much more serene than I, and cantering is theraputic. If that doesn’t want to work(and trust me, it doesn’t always-Regal isn’t always in the mood to work or worse-lame), I put the music up really loud and ignore the world. Chinese food from Happy T. is the rule, and I clean house. And like se7en, I have a special tool-dynamite. It also doubles as fish bait, so I can kill 2 birds with one stone with such an amazing tool….
I used to work 23-hour days, go home for four hours sleep, then go back and do it all again, etc.
Then I wised up and found a job where I go to work for 8 hours, get in late, take excessive breaks, leave early and do only about a couple of hours real work a day.
Take it easy, lady.
Lisa there are a lot of starving actresses in NYC that would clean your place for dirt cheap! The last thing you want to do when you come home from work is clean. Hell, the last thing ANYONE wants to do at the end of a long day is clean. I say get a cleaning service and enjoy your down time.
Heather B. – ROFLMAO @ “Gap threw up all over the place.”
HWS – And it’s a GOOD world
Kaia – I don’t have time to clean up before the maid comes lol, and the fatigue goes way beyond a nap.
Denny – Does she commute
Neil – I love every one of your ideas!
Tanisha – I have been thinking about that. Thanks for the feedback.
Wade – Maybe
Trubs – I wish.
Leave – I will keep that in mind!
Se7en – You are so SILLY!
Serra – I have already adored Se7en for a while now. Yet another thing we have in common lol.
Great ideas and I KNOW you are right. Thanks Dear.
CC – I know exactlly how you feel too. I do that as well!
Moket – I would LOVE to go for a horseback ride, it’s been a while.
What’s with you guys and your hand grenades
D-Man – I knew you would get it. Thanks Hon, I’m gonna try.
TJ- Let me get right on hiring some starving actress hehe.
I take digital pictures of the living room and then despeckle the carpet in Photoshop. It’s less tiring than vacuuming.
They called me into work again. I hate my job.
I do absolutely nothing, too, except the family’s laundry, cooking, gift shopping, errands, etc. In other words, no break for me!
I do sit my butt in front of the TV most nights, though.
Enjoy doing NOTHING, LisaB, while you can!!
I totally hear you. I wish I could give you advice on how to deal with it but I’m trying to figure it out myself. Let me know if you discover the secret!
Lisa, you’ll thank me later, lol.
A rash of serial killings usually relieves those feelings, Lisa. Do the authorities read your blog?
It wasn’t a hand granade-it was dynamite. A much nicer explosion, and is much cheaper(OK-let me qualify that, as I am not a kooook living in Northern Idaho). When I was growing up, we had a mining company, and every year I got to go to the pit and watch the spring blasting. This leeeetl Frenchman came out, drilled the holes, and used both dynamite(as a shaping tool), and this explosive powder and blasting caps to do the job. If you have never seen a 3 ton boulder fly, you should. It is an amazing sight.
I think that blowing things up is a totally male thing, stuck in some sort of adolescence gig, as if it is a leftover of the evolution from blowing up ant mounds/setting them on fire right to dating and cars as a teenager. For me, it is just a practical application of strength and physics.
And it’s nifty-I remember the look that the little Frenchman got on his face, and I kid you not, he smoked afterwards. Now that is sick…..
Golf Widow – I ADORED your idea! Can you help me with Photoshop please? Too funny!
Clora – Sorry Hon. Big hug!
Nat – No rest for the weary I see. Now I want YOU to relax
Lizzie – You will be the first to know! I know you are exhausted as well.
TJ – I am sure I will
Marty – They are probably more likely to read YOURS lol.
Moket – Thanks for the clarification! And LMAO by the by. I loved your story.
Oh those wacky French
I’d say drink a lot of coffee, but I already know that you do that!
Can you take a vacation? A long weekend, even?
When you’re working 12-14 hrs, there’s not much time to do anything else but sleep. Don’t worry about your house being a mess – dust bunnies don’t bite.
