It’s all about bloggers baby

Posted on Tuesday 3 January 2006

As much as I love blogging and bloggers, there are a few individuals, (who of course are NOT on my blogroll,) that make me want to drop kick their ass to the nearest curb.

The “I am so awesome, just ask me” bloggers

You know the type… “I am so FREAKING HOT and SEXY and HIP and just so EVERYTHING Dude! The world revolves around ME!”

GAG. How nice for you. It’s SO attractive that you have such an inflated point of view of your so called assets. Your modesty really becomes you. Let’s just say I will believe it when I see it. “All hat and no cattle” as we say in the South.

The “I hate everyone, (including myself,) and am going to hurl insults at everyone who to dares to comment on my posts” bloggers

Get thee to a shrink before you blow up some building, or the Feds come and take you away. NOW.

The “passive aggressive” commenters.

They are the less than witty people who write snarky comments on an ongoing basis. And they are not meant in fun. I guess it must be easier to be a jerk than to actually write a good blog. My friend once described passive aggressive behavior as “a covert f*ck you.” She was right.

“The my life sucks more each and every day” bloggers.

I have certainly spilled my guts on my own blog more than once. And have definitely shared a few bad patches with all of you, (thanks by the way,) But not EVERY freaking day for Gawd’s sake! You have to be the world’s biggest masochist to want to read that stuff for weeks on end.

Coming soon, things I love about bloggers and all the good stuff about blogging!

To be continued…

UPDATE – because Se7en made me ;-)

So how do you really feel, Lisa?! I hope you weren’t thinking about me when writing any of those categories! I think the one I can relate with you on is the last one. True, we all have our down moments and we all vent which we’re certainly entitled to but I can’t stand those who feel sorry for themselves on a daily basis and who act like every problem they’ve ever dealt with is 10 times worse than what you’ve ever had to deal with. C’mon! I’d like to write a really snarky comment to follow that one but then you might definitely place me in one of your categories if I do!

Sadly, these “endearing” traits aren’t limited to bloggers…..but it doesn make me wonder how many of these personality types that I encounter on a daily basis have blogs…and if they’re just that much more so from the comfort of their keyboards.

That’s why I moved my boo hooing and whining to a new blog. Geez….I really hate it when reality hits me in the face but it is what it is. Boo’s Blog is back on the fun track and Boo’s other blog is for the “My life sucks” mode.

Hey, I just read Se7en’s blog and it sounds like you guys are having a great time. New York is not that far for me, maybe we can do lunch sometime!!

    Happy New Year!!

You forgot the ones that describe their sex lives in the most minute detail. I guess there are some pervs who get off on that, but for me, that’s waaaay more info than I need to know!

OMG, I HATE the people who comment all the time and never blog, and when they do it’s like their favorite passage from a book or something!

I like the bloggers who will go on and on for PAGES about their lives, and not even the exciting stuff.

“Today I went to Maggie’s house and we curled our hair and she was like ‘Are you gonna hook up with that one dude?’ and I was like ‘Girl, it ain’t no thang,’ and then we went to Jonsie’s house and watched television and blah blah blah everyone stopped reading after the first sentence . . .”

It takes all kinds, I guess! I know what you mean, though. Fortunately there’s something for everyone. Like my wife says, and I love this expression — there’s a lid for every pot! But I have to say that I don’t care for the types of blogs you’ve mentioned.

There was a time when I was untouched by foul commenters, but now I am a seasoned veteran of obscene and vulgar comments. Yes, it takes all kinds to make up the world, but the same could be said for dirty bombs and we all KNOW how much those are cherished. It would be NICE to see you on line some time to chat, but I know, you are the busy jetsetter…and I am just this lowly married pile of a woman….oh, wait, I am starting to sound like example #4. Erase that.

Hi there! I just popped over via Seven’s blog and thought I’d go ‘head ‘n introduce myself.

Hi, Lisa! My name is Angie. I’ve met Sev in real life, too, but only for a few hours. Just wanted to be neighborly ‘n such. Sounds like the two of you are having an utter hootenanny in Da City. Keep up the good work.

Oh, and I like your list… except that I probably fall under a couple of those categories from time to time.

I definitely agree with this list! (I’m so narcissistic though, that I read it and wonder if I do those things. Ugh, I need to get over myself).

looking forward to the “things I love list”!

    my ‘favorite’?

bloggers whose entries are this…. “Today I woke up around 7. No, actually I think it was more like 6:45. After I brushed my teeth, I decided to settle down to a nice cup of coffee. I figured I’d squeeze some ‘blogging’ in before I go do some grocery shopping. Walmart maybe….”

    ARRRRRRGH!

Damn, you slay me girlfriend! LOVE the list. And I’m loving these comments! I couldn’t agree with you more. I don’t like to be around negative people in my REAL life. So why would I want to hang out with them VIRTUALLY?

And the snarky commenters? They remind me of TIME OUT, NY magazine. Have you ever read the comments on new bands playing out? It seems like the snarkier the comment, the cooler the commenter. Screw them!

I’m so glad you guys could come over to our place to play on New Years. It was TOO MUCH FUN!!! (I’m still recuperating!)

    Love ya, LisaB

I like to call snarky commenters “Circumcellions,” after the Carthagians who used to wait on the side of the road and beat up passersby for no reason.

Cootera aka Angie – Welcome! It’s nice to meet you. I’m glad you stopped by. Se7en told me how much he enjoyed meeting you ;-)

And we ALL fall under those categories every once in a while lol.

Lizzie – LOL. I think everyone was wondering that!

Leave – Thanks Hon! We are having a great time.

Dawn – Those blogs make me want to scream. Or die of boredom ;-)

Mike – Welcome and no worries! We all do that sometime. I’ll be by to visit you soon!

Deni – Love ya back gf!

And I agree with you, why hang out with the nasty people in real or virtual life?

Thanks again for NYE, I THINK my hangover is finally gone ;-)

Golfwidow – I really like that. Great description.

    Denny – LOL, don’t I ALWAYS? ;-0

I don’t like comment whores. “Comment on my post about shoes or I will cry for an hour and throw away one shoe from each pair for each comment I do not receive. Please. COMMENT.” Comment this, freaks.

In short Lisa, you dislike blogging assholes. Fortunately, I don’t fall into those categories. I’m in a class by myself, the same way it was when I was in that school that my parents sent me to FAR FAR away.

Lisa, tell me how freaking awesome and so totally hot I am. And that I’m the best thing to blogging since sitemeter. Go on, say it!

Really I can’t stand those people either but then I’ll keep reading because it’s all a giant car accident to me, you don’t want to look but you do.

waaw you seem to have had an amazing time with se7ven!!! Were you by any chance waiting for a cab on ny eve in this huge line in front of the madison square garden? I remember all those people waiting in the cold. We went past it twice trumpeting!!! There was even this man playing saxophone with the USA-flag-2006 glasses on. After midnight, he was still there playing, but there was no longer a line for cabs…

Well, I have to say, I spill my guts out on my blog on a daily basis, but isn’t that what a blog is all about? To vent and tell all – if you so desire? Hmm….I’m wondering if my deep posts had you write this? Hehe….The one thing that bothers me, are people who comment on your blog JUST for the sake of getting a comment back on theirs. The ‘blogger etiquette’ per se. I mean, if you genuinely like the blog and like what they posted, then comment. If you have nothing to say regarding the story that someone posted—read it—and don’t comment if you so wish.

There is a certain blogger out there who got really ticked off because she thought someone wasn’t commenting on her blog—because she thought she was ‘all that’. Sometimes people are busy—they write in their blogs, and then go to work or whatever, and don’t have that much time to comment on every single blog. I think we should focus on our own blogs instead of going insane thinking, “Oh what an ass she is for posting that!”—and just enjoy ‘blogging in general’. I know some people blog for socializing—but there are people like myself that enjoy writing, and have a passion for it.

I also think that those morbid blogs are quite fascinating in a dark way. It’s sort of watching Jerry Springer or COPS, you feel bad for them, but you tune in every single day to watch it. Morbid fascinations are sometimes the most entertaining.

I loved this post. I was just talking to another blog friend about a blog that I will never put on my sidebar because this particular person only talks about perfect she is; how perfect her three kids are and how perfect of a life she has even though she’s been married three times and now is dating a fellow blogger. This was my first visit to your site. I like love the template and header design. Happy New Year.
