I walked outside my front door and discovered a hubbub of activity. The avenue is closed to vehicle traffic for approximately 30 blocks. There is tangy, fresh squeezed lemonade, chicken kebabs barbecuing over an open fire, and funnel cakes covered with powdered sugar. And there are street vendors as far as you can see. They have all types of handmade items, (earrings, crafts, and table runners,) that I never knew I needed but are suddenly must haves.
Ladies, and Gentlemen, welcome to a New York Street Fair!
I LOVE it here. Even when you are not looking for a party, the party finds you.
And they didn’t notify you? Sounds like fun!
Throw down, girlfriend!
I bet they don’t do this in LA.
I love stuff like this–used to make a butt-ton of money selling at them
Walking outside your front door into the middle of a cool street party? I’m SO envious! Here, in suburbia of The OC, the closest thing to a hubub of activity is our neighbor’s garage sale.
There are definite advantages to living in the city…
Dang Lisa, that’s so cool! I wonder if you’re New York fair is anything like the 4th Avenue street fairs we have here…
When there’s street food at the street fair, I gravitate to the antacid kiosk
Have some fried dough in my name.
Sounds like fun!!! Isn’t that always the way though, that things you didn’t know you needed are exactly what you must have!! Go nuts girl you deserve it!
Street parties are always fun.
That’s highly convenient, as long as you’re dressed for it, and not trying to sleep off a migraine or something.
That sounds so nice! I used to love big festivals/parties like that in Chicago, but yours sounds great! Enjoy.
It sounds like a blast. I heard y’all were having a flood. Hope they didn’t get washed away.
Se7en – The Noive!
Zen – Hehe
Old Horsetail Snake – Well they wasn’t usually outside my front door, but there were flea markets and street fairs in various cities.
Serra – I bet you did with your candles and stuff!
Ms. Annie D. – I like garage sales too
But, being in a big city is pretty cool!
David – I have no idea but I have a feeling they might be similar…
Marty – The grilled corn on the cob, (dripping with butter,) ROCKED.
Golfwidow – We should go have dessert some time soon!
Leave – EXACTLY my friend! And thanks
Mike – I agree!
Miss Jay – Luckily there was no dress code so my jeans were fine
Mappy – It was very fun! I love that kind of thing.
Fuzz – There was a big storm about 30 minutes after I got there. So I left and came back about an hour later. It was quite a party!
I’m trying to remember which street fair that could be. Been a long time since I was in that scene. Hope it continues to be a blast for you.
Invite everyone upstairs for an after-fair drink!
Verrrrry cool. But you also have subways that shut down when it RAINS.
I’m so evil. No, really. That sounds fantastic, tempting and highly fattening – everything it should be!
*drool* I am SO JEALOUS! I don’t even think we HAVE 30 blocks in our town….lmao!
I was walking down my street and stopped in my tracks when I heard the unmistakeable sound of amplified music coming from the avenue. A street fair!
Guess what I have just discovered? We must be neighbors!
It ain’t a street party unless someone’s getting their tits out.
Ooooh! That makes me terribly hungry and jealous all at once!
I love these events. We got a real good one, but its a tiny baby compared to NYC.
But we got 15 story pine trees!
