Carb Interruptus

Posted on Tuesday 3 October 2006

We interrupt this program to bring you breaking news from LisaB:

Sorry to disrupt your viewing folks, but here is an update… I have lost 10 pounds with my low carb diet from hell new lifestyle. Yes folks, it’s not a diet, it’s a lifestyle. Excuse me while I sob uncontrollably ponder that one. The other good news is that I am no longer so hungry I am ready to eat my shoes! I was not a happy camper more like a homicidal lunatic that first week. You should see my kitchen cabinets now, they are loaded with nauseatingly healthy foodstuffs. Picture edamame, soy chips, whole wheat pasta, almonds, and lots of South Beach products. Anyone want to come to supper? I didn’t think so. And yes, Julie, I can still drink a glass of wine or two on occasion. Sound the trumpets!

Seriously, thanks again for all your great recipes and suggestions – you guys were a BIG help!

More updates as they develop. And now back to our original programming, already in progress.

Ah, Lisa, I’ve been wonderng about you on that diet. Sounds very exciting! Ten pounds is NOT easy. I know you’ll get used to your new lifestyle. It’s other people that get in the way. Always shoving cookies and such at you.

    Ten pounds is amazing!

    You are a machinE!

I need to readjust my lifestyle as well. I spent last month getting fed by southern ladies who think butter is the only way to go….

Way to go, Lisa! I did the South Beach thing a couple of years ago, but got stuck at an 8-lb. loss and finally just gave up. I missed chewing bread and pasta and the like. So, I joined WW over a year ago and have lost 40 lbs. Suits me much better. I’m even getting better about counting calories, which was the tricky part for me! Continued success to you! YAY for LISA!!

I’ve tried the low carb diets, but I get constant migraines from doing that more than two weeks. I think there’s something related to the low carb and your brain–it was on the news. Be careful with that. I tried going that route—but my head was literally spinning! But congrats on the weight loss! I hope you feel great! :)

Nat – Thanks, Dear! I knew you would understand. :-)

Deb – I had headaches and nausea the first week. Apparently it’s very common when you suddenly go low carb. I drank a lot of water and that took care of it. I’m also not on a true South Beach or Atkins diet. More like a low carb Weight Watchers. And I DID research migraines after you mentioned it, thanks!

David – It’s been about 3 weeks so I’m right on target. Yay!

Annie – Aww thanks my friend! As for soy chips, they taste like potato chips…if you close your eyes ;-)

Zen – Thank you! I’m very pleased.

    Oob – Thanks! I think ;-)

Last Girl – Thanks Hon! And NO Veggie burgers lol. I can’t wait to catch up :-)

Bruce – Thanks Darlin’! Whew, I’m relieved ;-)

    Serra – Thanks!

Congrats! Carbs are my biggest weakness. Without them I feel incredibly weak. That’s so great that you’ve been able to committ to your new lifestyle.

    Great new Blog skin, too!
