My Boogie Shoes Need New Soles

Posted on Monday 1 January 2007

Since I don’t make New Year’s resolutions, I decided to beat the pack and start back at the gym after Christmas. I was very proud of myself, that is until I saw all the people who never stopped going in the first place. But I will say in my defense, I have been building my strength back up. And now I’m almost there – damn it hurrah!

Julz post got me thinking about what music I have on my iPod. Like many people, I have playlists for different moods. In anticipation of hitting the gym again, I created a playlist strictly for working out. And you know what?

Come closer cause this is kind of embarassing.

Mum’s the word, ok?

I hate to admit this.

I have some really bad funky music on my iPod.

Here are just a few of the songs:

Bad Girls
YMCA
Foxey Lady
Theme From Shaft
Wooly Bully
Do Ya Think I’m Sexy
It’s Raining Men
Rock and Roll, Hootchie Koo
We Are Family
Boogie Shoes
Staying Alive
Crocodile Rock

Like Julz, I may have lost music cred, but at least these bopping songs keep me moving on the bike and treadmill. So there!

Let the jokes begin. Oh and I want to hear about your playlists too!

Hey, this Baby Boomer thinks you made some good choices, especially since a good dance beat will facilitate a good workout! I don’t have an iPod, but if I did, I’d include Its Raining Men!

There is nothing wrong with the theme song from Shaft. Can ya dig it? ;)

And while I was embarassed over some of my CDs, I will admit without shame that I have the Right Said Fred CD. And I love it. Two gym owners who made a funky CD specifically for working out.

…and on my old phone, Crocodile Rock was my ringtone.

I never make fun of anybody’s music. It’s a professional code. Happy New Year, Lisa. Hit the gym with whatever.

I think it all about whatever creates motivation and makes your shoes move or dance or whatevah! Besides, that’s why you have ear buds, right! ;)

Those sound like great exercising songs, if that weren’t in itself, oxymoronic. Yikes. Exercise (*sophmom covers her ears and eyes lest the very idea make its way into her sedintary brain*)! Good for you, LisaB. You listen to whatever you damn well please.

You’re so funny when you said, “…until I saw the people who didn’t stop going in the first place!” lol!!! I’m trying to get back into the swing of things myself, but I promised myself that I would never ever make a New Year’s resolution again…they’re made to be broken. Any day is a good day to decide to live a healthier lifestyle.

I need to take my own fricken advice! ;)

I have a BuckCHerry song that’s a little nasty, that GODAWFUL TImberlake Sexy Back, All things George Micheals, some VIllage People, Hinder, Van Halen WHEN THEY WERE GOOD, and Blue October.
I like to twist it on the machines, mouth the dirty parts to the songs while staring at strangers. But then, I talk to the fruit in the supermarket.

Dawn – Even worse? I can do the YMCA dance ;-)

Denny – Donna Summer rocks! And thanks, I think. LOL!

Bruce – It’s the Rick Derringer version. Wow, you really know your music!

SophMom – They do get me moving :-) And thanks.

Deb – Thanks! And that was exactly what I was thinking. It’s hard to get your backside there, yes?

Oob – I appreciate that. And you are right, I do smile when I’m listening to all those bopping songs ;-)

Tish – You must be VERY popular at your gym! And Sexy Back? ;-)

Zen – ROFLMAO! Your comment was hilarious! But doubtful…

Hoss – *shakes head and smiles*

Two Drink Girl – Oh I have some of that too, I just didn’t mention it ;-)

Hey Lisa! Way to go on the gym. Hope you are enjoying it! And as for your music choices… whatever makes you want to shake your booty works for me! Happy New Year, my friend.

While I do not have an Ipod (yet), I do fill up my jump drive at work with MP3s to listening during the day. Right now, it’s loaded totally with Stryper and Michael Sweet. Previously, it was loaded totally with Queen. Before that, I had it loaded with a mix of stuff like Queen, Boston, Judas Priest, UFO, Iron Maiden.

I hate to sound like I have a big ego or anything, but my music kicks ass. I highly suggest getting some of this stuff for the gym. Nothing keeps you going like a little Metallica.

The most worrisome thing I’m trying to figure out about my iPod playlists is where in the blue HELL I got a copy of Baby Got Back?

About all that iPod is missing is the Podcrapular podcast.

    lol

Haven’t gotten back on the working out regime just yet, but I’m getting caught up on all sorts of other crap. I really want 2007 to be a better year that 2006. Man oh man!

Those songs are ok for a girl but for a macho man like myself, I would add Highway to Hell, Enter the Sandman, and Back in the Saddle (Aerosmith)

Ok, those are bad, however, I have a couple of those same ones on my iPod AND there are a couple that I’m now going to add. I have some really bad ones.
    I Touch Myself
    Touch Me
    I will Survive
    I’m Too Sexy

    Ok that’s enough.

What is this thing called workout and what is a gym? Is that a ritzy place where you can go sit and listen to your iPod and eat?
If you can do the Macarena too, you can attend any wedding in Pittsburgh.

Deni – i wouldn’t exactly say I’m “enjoying it,” but it’s getting the job done ;-)

Vince – I’ll try it, but I think I “bop” better to pop!

Andy – I can’t shake my booty to your podcast. Sad really ;-)

And I’m hoping for a better year as well…

Marty – Your macho-hood has been confirmed!

    Nat – Britney? As if!

And that is one hell of a playlist! I’m in awe.

Inanna – I’m glad you share my taste in Donna Summer – woo hoo!

    D-Man – Do a pop song and we’ll talk ;-)

Leave – Too funny! I may have to put “I’m too sexy” on my iPod as well ;-)

    Paul – We’ll talk ;-)
