Well I’m about to go on the road again.
But this time there’s a bit of a twist.
I’ve decided to give plane travel a giant pass I’d rather have a root canal this time around and try something different. So, without further ado…
I’M GOING ON A ROAD TRIP!
I’m not just whistling Dixie here, my friends – I’m heading South! And I’m taking some mighty fine company along for the ride.
Se7en is being a wonderful pal and joining me for this long ass drive. He’s flying to New York this weekend, and come Monday we’re out of here. Oh and Ally da Pup is going as well.
And we’re gonna have us an adventure!
I’m sure we’ll enjoy lots of fried chicken, fried shrimp, and fried everything-else-you-can-possibly-fry on the drive down. Just don’t make me drink any of that nasty sweet tea. I hate the stuff!
And I’m equally sure my New York license plates are going to go over really well as I’m speeding along the various southern interstates.
Did I mention that Ally is not a fan of long car rides? Thank heaven and the vet for doggie tranquilizers.
Never a dull moment, eh?
I am really looking forward to spending a couple of weeks with my Mother. Things are much better with our friend but I’m still going to hang around for a bit. Plus I have some very busy clients in that neck of the woods. And Mom mentioned something about my finally cleaning out an old closet. Crap! I’ve successfully avoided that for over 10 years now. Busted!
Anyway, back to the trip…
You may remember that that Se7en and I have totally different tastes in music. That will definitely make things interesting. Oh well, that’s what iPod’s and MP3 players are for. And headphones.
Lawdy Miss Clawdy!
I’ll report back from the road if we don’t kill each other first. Hey, it could happen. KIDDING! Sorta.
And pass that fried stuff over this way. Thank you kindly.
Drive safe!
You can pass the sweet tea my way. I love the stuff. Oh, and stop at a Waffle House for me. Nothing like pecan waffles and cheese grits.
Glad to hear your friend is doing better. Sorry about the closet.
Yeah, I LOVE road trips – sorry to hear the pup doesn’t though! If you stop in Savannah, let me know and we can go grab some wine! Have a safe drive and enjoy the fried goodness.
This sounds like quite an adventure but damn, there goes your diet! God bless the iPod. How primitive life was without it. Soon I’ll have my iPhone. The next step, I’m pretty sure is to have every communication device imaginable hardwired into your brain. Have a fun time, Lisa, and yes, road reports, please, although I’ll be out to sea next week.
Sounds like fun. How long are you going for? How long of a drive is it?
BTW, a good way to get around the different tastes in music issue is to let each of you fill up half of one iPod, and then just play the thing on shuffle for the whole drive.
Sounds like fun! Never had sweet tea but love fried shrimp! Have fun!
have a great time, lisa….i’m sure it will be a blast! how far south are you going?
WAY South
Enjoy the open road, this has potential for adventure written all over it.
Wow, I’m so jealous. I’m sure that you and Se7en are going to have a blast! I can’t wait to hear stories from the roadtrip!!
Have a great time!
You’re heading south, I’m heading east – road trips all around! You doing blue roads or interstates? I don’t think the NY plates will even be noticed – that is unless you decide to stop in some thriving metropolis like Opp, Alabama
Make sure you stop in Charleston! I fell in love with it! Am jealous. Have a great time!
If you’re going deep enough south, like, through Tennessee, please find someplace and have some deep fried ribs on my behalf.
Come on. It’ll be like a telethon for my soul.
You will be in good hands. I have warned Se7en about his taste in music.
Driving from DC to Upstate gives me hives. But you seem to be a stronger woman than I. So good luck!
Lisa: I had visions of Ally buckled in a dog seat in the back of the car loving a window down! But have a Blast with seeing great scenery and friends!!!!
eat some boudin for me when you swing through my homeland.
boudin, coffee and chicory, grits, gravy, biscuits, sweet tea….ohhhhhhhhhhhhh
i won’t say the w word.
say ‘hey’ to my aunt aloisia, avoid arkansas… no reason, i picked up fleas there once in a hotel… so, i don’t like the place although mountain home is lovely.
y’all have a great time… wish i could hitch a ride.
*waving* say hey to your momma and them, hear?
Can I score some of those dog tranqs off you?
Looking forward to the stories already, Lisa! I know you and Se7en will have a blast! I guess sweet tea is the one thing that you and I disagree on. eh, could be worse.
I’ve gone home to clean out my closet, or rather organize it and my room a couple times over the last year. And when I’m done, I tell my mom, ok so the room is clean and clutter-free, so please keep it that way. And every time I go back, its been messed up again, lots of old random shit has been put in it…I think I’m gong to put a padlock on my door next time.
Oh lawdy! Here you are comin’ south and me without a kitchen! Dang it all! Well maybe I haves me a kitchen by the time you return? And I don’t have no sweet tea. I make Earl Gray Tea in a Sun Tea jug out on the deck, no sugar, but with a sprig of mint that grows alongside the deck rail
Have a fun and safe trip, the both of you!
Fun! I’d love to go on a road trip; however, it takes me about 20 minutes just to drive 4 miles ’round here in my ‘hood! Of course with it being summer, I now find myself behind parked cars IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD while people (from the ‘hood, not out-of-town!) unload their cars for a day at the beach! By the time I get home, I’m ready for a doggie tranquilizer too.
I still think you’re a heathen for not wanting to stop at Larry’s Snake Farm.
Road Trip! Don’t forget the camera. And don’t forget to share…
Ahh, I always wanted to go a road trip. I don’t like the idea of putting tons of miles on my car, but I like the idea of exploring some of the 50 states. I’ve seem some of the same ones over and over. Plus it has to make for some great blog stories!
Have a blast, Lisa!! Give Sev a hug for me, too, while you’re at it. Can’t wait to hear all about it upon your return. And now I’m hungry for some boudin balls, thanks to Cajun Boy. Oh, how envious I am… as my vacation comes to a close.
FUN! I absolutely HEART road trips!
I can just see you and Se7en wrestling over the radio now…. is the South ready?
So VERY EXCITED that you are coming my way…..I’ll ready the hairless Guatamalens, purchase mounds of whipped cream..oh, wait, nix the cream, that whole sugar thing. Let’s make a date, though!!!!
The road is the way to go. I prefer road trips over air travel any day. Have a blast.
I love road trips, except to D.C. I’d rather drive any day. Hope you guys are having a ball and a boudin ball at that!
You already left??
I’ve been snowed in with work. Ya’ll better be careful Lisa!!
Mention my name, and you’ll be directed to the nicest outhouses.
Lisa, hope your trip was great. It was a pleasure seeing you last weekend.
Do not kill Se7en yet. I haven’t met him. After I meet him, you can kill him if you like
Hope you guys have a great trip!
wow, fun! we just bought a camper and can’t wait for our first road trip. enjoy yours!!
I can’t wait to hear about your road trip. We’re going on one too, next weekend!
My cholesterol count just rose reading your post.
Safe travels. If the cop asks you if you know why he pulled you over, consider replying, “To get a better look at my breasts.”
Have a blast…and skip the gawdawful Godsmack!
