All Good!!!

Posted on Friday 7 December 2007

Oh my word, where has the time gone? These last few weeks have been flying by! Sorry I’ve been so out of touch, lots going on and too busy to blog…

Remember this time last year when I got one heck of a scare? Go ahead and check the link, I’ll wait.

Anyway, I changed facilities. I’m still really pissed at the other one for the insenstive way they treated me. Apparently it’s fine for the doctor to tell the patient the results, the first place just chose to do it via snail mail. Thus I chose to go to a different imaging center this time around. The new facility scheduled the mammogram and ultrasound within an hour of each other. More importantly, the doctor told me the results while I was still on the table.

“Your mammogram looks good.”

And with those words, my day got good again. I didn’t even care much that I had to wait 20 minutes in the freezing wind and snow for the bus.

I’m healthy, damn it. And once again it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! And Hanukkah! And Kwaanza! Or whatever the heck you celebrate!

Whew.

I jumped for joy when my pap smear came out okay ! Wait does this mean you’re 40 or over if you’re getting mammograms??

From Lisa B: I’m so not discussing my age! FYI, doctors recommend that women begin having mammograms at age 35. Time for yours yet? ;-)

Now, THAT’s how to handle that crap! Not making patients stew while someone does her best to translate doctorese into readable English via transcription, then wait while the letter gets to you.

Glad you got through the mammogram. I absolutely hate those things. I think we should be paid to have them rather than vice versa.

Great news, Lisa! I know that feeling (having been down the road of the ultrasound & biopsy). It’s always a huge relief to 1) find the right provider who’ll take care of *all* your needs (including emotional) and 2) get the desired result. Congratulations.

Yay! Glad you’re OK. Most of my docs will give results right away. If not, they call and leave a message when they come in for you to call the doc and get results over the phone. That last place is just lazy.

Having had a scare a few weeks ago myself, and more than a scare — a reality — for a girlfriend, count your blessings, hug the dog and tell your cool mom that you love her. And then have a great Christmas! (new year, too, while we’re at it…)
