NO MORE COOKIES!!!

Gawd, I’ve been eating them nonstop for weeks. First I had the bright idea to bake sweets for the holidays. I wanted to include them with my holiday tips. I always think they are a nice little extra treat. So naturally I had to taste each batch, right? I mean I needed to make sure they all tasted delicious. It was my obligation! OY. I had to go to the gym every damn day to make up for that particular pleasure.

Anyway, my friend and I baked:

Spritz Cookies – butter cookies that we put in a cookie press and made into all kinds of fun shapes i.e. wreaths, christmas trees, and stars. Then we decorated them with assorted sprinkles. Very festive and tasty!

Symphony Brownies – incredibly rich, dark chocolate brownies. I’m not a choc-aholic but everyone LOVED them.

Spiced Pecans – Pecans that tasted of cinnamon, sugar, nutmeg, and all types of spices. So yummy!

I have given them all almost away and everyone adored them. Funny how much people love a homemade treat. Actually I’m not surprised, I think they taste much better than “store bought” cookies. Naturally I’m prejudiced on this subject.

Anyway, I’m all done baking. Enough! I’m tired of cleaning the kitchen, and numerous bowls, measuring cups, and cookie sheets. I quit!

NO MORE COOKIES!!!

Well at least not until 2008…

Spiced pecans? Sounds wonderful! Are they really cookies, or are they just the nuts? I was going to ask for a sample, but I’d settle for a sample recipe. (Like I really need them.)

Cookies are one of my favorite holiday treats, but I’m paying for it this year! Back to the gym for me at least I won’t be alone! Sux that as we get … ahem … older that the “cookie lane” (a.k.a. carb highway) gets slower as they travel through, leaving many to dawdle and take up residence. ;)

Why can’t I be your baking “friend?”
Better yet, forget that, but if I were to sample each batch for you…, you see how that would help? I’d do anything for you. Well, I’d do certainly do that. I’m selfless that way.

Cookies are my crack. More specifically Pepperidge Farm Milanos are my crack — but I think I gotta try yours before I declare them my favorite!!! :)

You had me laughing aloud at your first line!

I ended up baking 8 loaves of pumpkin/zuchinni/walnut bread, and gave away 7. Although I couldn’t slice and taste the bread from each loaf, I did save back enough to lick the beaters and bowl after each batch! Needless to say, I’m a bit doughy in the middle now ;)

Strangely enough I managed to avoid the cookies. But I still ate too damn much. Starting weeks ago. I kind of hate myself for that. I’m being good now, though. Extra workouts too. We shall overcome.

Lisa B: I’m not surprised that you are a good cook. Most cool people I know have this talent in common. I make a hell of a breakfast? Nah, I guess that doesn’t count. But as Bud says, “I’m being good now”! :)

Yummmm! Those all sound delicious, and I am sure they were much appreciated with your tips. It is so nice to receive something that is homemade. Aren’t you sweet? But wait, you didn’t make snickerdoodles? :)

Good thing you live on the East Coast; round here, you’be be eating gluten-free, vegan, fair-trade, sustainably-grown, organic, low-fat, antioxidant-rich cardboard, er, I mean cookies.

Have a few for me, OK?

    Happy New Year!

You’re right. I ‘m not even a sweets person, but there’s something about the sweets served at the holidays that somehow seems better. Better for who, I’m not sure.

    Happy New Year!:)

Cookies are the devil’s doing. I’m also staying away for at least another…12 hours. Yup not again until next year. ‘Course I’ll probably celebrate EST, so make that at least 11 hours. :)

    Happy new year!

This is the first year in ages that I baked NOTHING AT ALL over the holidays, besides a pie or two around Thanksgiving. See, I knew there was a reason to love the destination Christmas that we had! (And I walked and walked for about 8 days straight…and only ate minimal snacks…I gained NOTHING over Christmas for once!!!)

HAPPY NEW YEAR to one of my favorite bloggers! Here’s to another year of LisaB and Ally!
