Hear Me Roar

Posted on Wednesday 2 January 2008

I received an iTunes gift card for the holidays. And boy was I jazzed. I got to pick whatever songs my little heart desired- woo hoo! Besides, I wanted to update my gym playlist as I was getting bored with the same tunes over and over and over…

And once again, I bow in shame to my choices. I mean they are seriously goofy somewhat lame but at least they get me moving!

Without further ado… my recent downloads:

“It’s Hard Out Here For a Pimp”
“9 to 5″
“Smooth”
“Copacabana”
“Heartache Tonight”
“Living La Vida Loca”
“Money for Nothing”
“Dancing in the Dark”
“Bad, Bad Leroy Brown”
“I Am Woman”

And the one I’m most embarassed about…

“I’m Too Sexy”

OK, now I want to hear about your songs – good and bad!

Fess up.

Seems one should have a gym to have a gym play list! Oh! Wait! I do belong to a gym! I suppose I should go, but since I don’t have a play list………………………………… ;)

    I like your play list!

If I remember right, “I’m Too Sexy” was written by a bunch of guys as a workout song, so no shame there or anywhere else.

Copacabana??? Too funny. I’m a closet Barry Manilow fan.

I have been into hip hop lately for my treadmill time. I am a crazy b**ch after all.

What ever makes you move your sweet ass is just fine, girl!. I let the spinning instructor choose the music and If I like the mix I get her to burn me one. Otherwise I just collect anything that’s about 140 beats per minute and put it in a folder called workout and shuffle it. this is on non spinning days when I use some cardio machine. Some of Deni’s songs are in that mix and a few of mine, actually. There’s a lot of Led Zep, Some John Mayer and Pete Yorn is great. Some old MoTown too. Just whatever makes me move but not the same thing over and over.

    Let’s see…

    1. “Diamonds On The Soles Of Her Shoes”
    2. “Jumpin’ Jack Flash”
    3. “Eye of the Tiger”

That’s all I can think of right now because I just watched Little Shop of Horrors– again– and I have that song Steve Martin sang in it stuck in my head, “Son, Be A Dentist”

“Dancing in the Dark” is a must for anyone I know and love. I mean, Bruce, forgodssake!

My latest obsession is an old song by Marianne Faithful, “Falling From Grace.” Well, the other day, I was dancing to “Staying Alive” before the mirror in my bedroom …

The last thing I ripped and put on my Ipod was Metallica’s Garage Day’s Re-Revisted. I put on lots of cranking tunes except for one called So What by the Anit-Nowhere League. If you google the lyrics, you’ll see why. The kids ride with me in the car and that’s not appropriate for young ears.

The last music I bought was Stray Cats Greatest Hits and Heart’s Greatest Hits. Last new music I bought was the Dollyrots CD’s. If you like power pop kind of music, you’ll like them. Go watch the video for Because I’m Awesome on youtube. It cranks!

Don’t feel bad–you’re not the only one. My less-than-impressive downloads include:

    “Tubthumping,” Chunbawamba
“One Night in Bangkok,” Murray Head
    “Walk Don’t Run,” The Ventures
“Love of the Common People,” Paul Young
“Abracadabra,” by the Steve Miller Band
    “You Can Do Magic,” America

    Not exactly stellar selections …

“I’m 2 sexy” is one of the ringtones on my cell… LOL I’ve always liked that silly song.

Not sure what I’d get w/a giftcard, I’d have to browse for awhile first ;-)

Oh, I know – the entire Robert Plant collection, yes!

I have the whole Right Said Fred “Up” album. On CD, bought when I was at college. And I love it. Perfect for working out, since the guys in the band owned a gym.

I also have Jim Croce’s Greatest Hits.

    And maybe some Supertramp.

And quite possibly Journey’s Greatest Hits.

    I’m done now.

A few of those I would be too embarassed to admit to listening to, especially the 9 to 5 LOL As you know, my music preference is Screaming Hyenas on Crack

A few I have to have:
    You Got Another Thing Coming
    Hells Bells
    I Stand Alone
    Awake

Wow those are the first songs you downloaded?! That is funny! I have all those and many, many more on my ipod, but then again I’m the dork who owns the biggest one. Because 10,000 songs for a lifetime simply isn’t enough. Now I have room for one hit wonders galore!:)

I think I’ve aired my most embarrassing music secrets already, but I might have forgotten that I have more REO Speedwagon on my iPod than is generally considered healthy, let alone cool.

9 to 5 is solid! Where the hell has Dabney Coleman been hiding this decade?

I don’t hardly have no any songs. One album I have is Alan Jackson’s “Drive,” because it has on it a tune called “Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning,” which is about the Sept. 11 deal. Very moving dude.
