I remember life before the internet…

The worldwide blog community gasps in horror.

“LisaB are you JOKING? There was life before the internet?”

Yes kids there was. I remember when people didn’t ping me, when I didn’t check my email the minute I got home cause I might miss something URGENT, and when I picked up the telephone to arrange brunch with friends. I also remember when online dating did not exist and the first look was in person, not a photo. And you know what else? I remember writing letters on monogrammed stationary, booking vacations ONLY through a savvy travel agent, and paying bills by check.

During THAT time of the month:

I get very snippy, grumpy and oversensitive. Nuff said.

Before my morning coffee:

I tend to misspell and leave out words, thus sounding like a complete freaking moron.

When I have been drinking:

Those are the posts that get deleted first thing in the morning. WAY too much “truth” or snarkiness. NOT a good thing.

When I read a post and wonder “what in Sam Hill were they THINKING writing that?”

Better to walk away and keep my mouth shut, or think my comment over VERY carefully.

When I am thoroughly pissed off at someone:

Once again, step away from the computer. NOW.

If only I would learn to take my own damn advice…

Sometimes their pain is so palpable I can feel it across the internet. I admire their honesty and willingness to share deeply personal things about their life. Unfortunately I am not one of those bloggers. I admit there have been moments when I have shared my deepest feelings. And people responded with love and caring. But I am a very private person and I have a hard time with that. I feel exposed and vulnerable. And I’m not sure that it is appropriate for my emotions to be on the world wide web for any stranger to read! Please understand, if it’s right for you then I applaud you. I’m just not sure it’s right for ME. I wish I could be that open but I have always been concerned that once it’s “out there” it can never ever be taken back. And I don’t want to be judged 20 years from now for what I wrote in a moment of pain and or despair.

I worry about writing about my friends and loved ones. I try to ask permission and or change the names/details before I write about them but isn’t it an invasion of their privacy all the same? They didn’t ask to be featured in my blog. I worry about writing about work, we have all seen the repercussions of people posting about their jobs and being fired or reprimanded. Maybe I just worry too much, I don’t know. I do know however that I can only share a certain amount about my life. And if seems like I’m holding back sometimes? Well I am. That’s just me. This is not to say I still won’t share deeply personal things on occasion. I am just going to choose them very carefully.

GAG. How nice for you. It’s SO attractive that you have such an inflated point of view of your so called assets. Your modesty really becomes you. Let’s just say I will believe it when I see it. “All hat and no cattle” as we say in the South.

The “I hate everyone, (including myself,) and am going to hurl insults at everyone who to dares to comment on my posts” bloggers

Get thee to a shrink before you blow up some building, or the Feds come and take you away. NOW.

The “passive aggressive” commenters.

They are the less than witty people who write snarky comments on an ongoing basis. And they are not meant in fun. I guess it must be easier to be a jerk than to actually write a good blog. My friend once described passive aggressive behavior as “a covert f*ck you.” She was right.

“The my life sucks more each and every day” bloggers.

I have certainly spilled my guts on my own blog more than once. And have definitely shared a few bad patches with all of you, (thanks by the way,) But not EVERY freaking day for Gawd’s sake! You have to be the world’s biggest masochist to want to read that stuff for weeks on end.
